Many of you receive emails for new posts on Tracks, including Events and Events > Deadlines. That can amount to a lot of emails at once, when multiple events are added. I feel like we all get too many emails already and my goal is that everyone gets the emails they want from Tracks and not the emails they don’t want. (It’s also possible to get push notifications instead, I might make a follow-up post about that.)
Here’s what’s new: events that repeat should be updated, instead of posting a new event. For instance, when the next Podcast Movement gets announced, find the previous Podcast Movement event and update it. Updating an existing event normally won’t trigger emails or other notifications.
To keep posted about events and deadlines that interest you, use the topic notification setting at the bottom of each event/deadline. To stick with the example of Podcast Movement, scroll down on the page and set it to Watching
. (You could also set it to Muted
if you never ever want to hear about Podcast Movement. I won’t blame you.)

With this setting, you’ll be notified any time the event/deadline is updated. I hope that reduces the email clutter and makes notifications more useful and personally tailored.
Other ways to stay informed about events and deadlines:
- subscribe to the Tracks calendar to see them in your calendar app
- find events in your area by checking the map
