Tonight, we’ll listen to eight new audio stories in Arabic and English. Berlin premiere of the latest pieces by THE ECCO.
Hi all,
Jasmin here. I run THE ECCO, an international non-profit non-commercial initiative for audio makers working across journalism, documentary, and sound art. We’re based in Berlin, but try to bring together audio craft folk from everywhere.
Last October, six audio makers spent five days in the Jordanian desert. Writing sessions, a Bedouin coffee ceremony, and a lot of stargazing, built around one shared prompt: Cleave.
Two more pieces came in through an open call on the same theme. All eight are now finished and ready to share.
On July 29, we are premiering all eight at Jiwar, a Palestinian-run community space in Berlin. An evening of listening, tea, and mingling after. Stories are in Arabic and English, made by Hadeel Alkuttob, Mariam Boctor, Yasmine Mahjoubi, Basant Samhout, Lili Sarayrah, Jeff Emtman, Mo Isu, and me.
So if you’re in Berlin, come hang with us. Tickets are 10 EUR, you can get them here.
Would love to connect if you’re here.
And if you’re not but you know friends who might be, feel free to forward this to them.
Cheers
Jasmin
